Latest Updates from Our Project:

Where the Monorail is King
over 8 years ago – Thu, Sep 17, 2015 at 06:59:16 PM

Hey everyone! Sorry for letting things get a little North Haverbrook there for a while. Things are taking longer than anticipated, but we’re starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. We’re busy working on a few developments which we hope will rekindle the Witchmarsh spirit, and we can’t wait to reveal them!

Team update

  • Luciana is creating items and item sets.
  •  Jamie is working on enemies and ability animations.
  •  Emelie and Lou are busying away on the script, as well as numerous readable books, magazines and documents you can find scattered around the town.
  • Joe is creating content, namely the desolate and haunted villages which surround the town (See animation)
  • Matt has released Wanderlust Adventures (check the link, it’s great!) and is moving towards putting more of his time into Witchmarsh.

That’s all we can tell you for now. Sorry for being so mysterious, but there will be more news coming soon!

Still alive + Pausing!
over 8 years ago – Mon, Aug 10, 2015 at 01:08:54 PM

Hey everyone!

We've already warned of possible delays to the release/beta/alpha, and that still looks likely to be the case, however for the moment we do have some good news. A feature we get asked about all the time is the option to pause and issue commands, similar to Baldur's Gate, Pillars of Eternity and so forth.

In this GIF the Innkeeper (AI) is issued a ranged attack command by the player. It still needs a bit of polish, though.

... which you can now do. Huzzah!

Players can hit pause in singleplayer combat and issue commands to each of their followers, either through a radial menu or by switching to the other characters manually.

The Bard also has a new casting animation which reflects his musical nature.

And finally, we never demonstrated the Ranged Combat overhauls in an image. In the old system, you would aim via the mouse and the bullet would hit the first target it strikes. Action-packed, but not very tactical.

With the new system, weapons can still be free-fired, but you can now select a target. Your bullets will bypass enemies you don't want to hit.

With these changes, the combat should feel a great deal more tactical and manageable.

Keep an eye on the updates for news about the delays. We're working hard towards a complete build but the RPG, AI and other tricky elements are proving much more challenging than we had anticipated. Thanks for your awesome patience and continued faith in the project, we'll get there in the end. :)

almost 9 years ago – Mon, Jul 20, 2015 at 04:34:12 AM

Hey everyone.

It's now the 26th and that means late backing is officially closed.

The total pledged through PayPal has reached £5932, giving us a grand budget of £108,362. Many thanks for your continued support and generosity! :)

We're now sorting through the PayPal backers and making sure they're placed correctly in the BackerKit system, ready for the surveys going out on the 31st.

What happens to the stretch goals you didn't meet?

It's unlikely that the larger stretch goal features will make the initial release, but we're definitely considering planning for DLC. It's far too early to make any promises.

Hey all,

The game's really coming together, and we've got some really exciting stuff we'll be sharing with you soon. In the meanwhile, how about a taste of the soundtrack? Here's the main theme by Francisco.

(Note, headphones recommended.)

Hope you like it. We'll be back soon with the belated March update.
